Day 17 of the @yarnlovechallenge is “weekend”
Weekends are for non-work knitting (ideally). My 5-year-old and I just selected the yarns for the rainbow hat she’s been requesting 🌈 🌈🌈
Then we’ll probably go to the pool, and eat too much cake at a birthday party later in the afternoon 😊

Day 15 of the @yarnlovechallenge is « Weekday »
Early in the week I usually do the work that requires the most brain power (grading, pattern writing in the morning, swatching in the afternoon) and things tend to wind down as the week progresses (except when I get excited about something that i must get to the bottom of right away.) Fridays are usually about finishing up things: sewing on buttons, putting finishing touches on patterns to be send to the tech editor, taking photos, blocking... That’s also the day I usually run errands (met up with the accountant this morning! So fun! Not.) If I feel the need to reward myself for a productive week (or alternatively if I need a boost) I’ll go spend a few hours in my allotment garden 😊
In fact that’s where I’ll be this afternoon! 🌱

Day 14 of the @yarnlovechallenge is « yarn love »
After all the @dererumnatura projects I’ve been posting lately you won’t be surprised to hear that I’ve got a mega crush on Solenn’s yarns, and in particular on Ulysse, which I find particularly ideal for stranded colorwork. Have you tried it yet? What is your favorite yarn for colorwork projects?

Instagram photo-a-day: Yarnlovechallenge Day 27: Blocking

March 03, 2017 in knitting, Uncategorized

Day 27 of the #yarnlovechallenge is Blocking. Especially when knitting shawls or anything with some lace in it, blocking is absolutely magical. What comes off the needles a crumpled mess actually transforms into a gorgeous, crisp, fabric. It makes me think of a beautiful butterfly emerging from a chrysalis. 🐛🦋Fittingly, this lovely design was named Nymphalidae by its talented designer, Melinda VerMeer. #nymphalidaeshawl #knitlove #knitting #tricot #strikk #stricken #knittersofinstagram
