Cable Cast On

This tutorial shows how to work the cable cast on, which is a firm and regular cast on and looks great.

Tip: Don’t tighten up each newly cast-on stitch too much!

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Make a slip knot and place it on your left needle.

  2. Knit the slip knot as you would a normal stitch but instead of dropping it off the needle, place the newly-formed loop onto the tip of your left needle.

  3. Place the right needle between the two just worked stitches from front to back, and wrap the yarn around the needle as if to knit. Pull the newly formed loop to the front and then place it onto the tip of your left needle.

  4. Continue doing this maneuver of inserting the right needle between the two stitches closest to the tip of the left needle and create new stitches this way until you have the required number of cast-on stitches.
